American Steamship Company, based in Williamville, New York, was founded in 1907 in Buffalo, New York. The company was acquired by Rand Logistics in 2020 and now operates as a subsidiary of Rand. Their current fleet consists of six one-thousand-foot bulk carriers, which account for just under one half of the thirteen one-thousand-foot vessels operating on the upper Great Lakes and connecting rivers today.
