Algoma Central Corporation is a St. Catharines, Ontario based marine transportation company. The company was founded in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 1899. Algoma Central owns and operates the largest fleet of Canadian flagged vessels on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway. Their fleet includes self-unloading and gearless dry bulk carriers, as well as liquid tankers. Algoma Central vessels can be identified by their dark blue hulls with the red and white Algoma bear logo on the bow. In addition to their Great Lakes operations, they own a fleet of oceangoing vessels serving international markets and partner in some joint ventures.
